Clara Reynen is a writer, comedian, and graduate student studying Library and Information Sciences. She is also earning a certificate in Book Studies from the University of Iowa Center for the Book. She received her undergraduate degrees from the University of Iowa in Religious Studies and Theatre Arts with University Honors.
Her one-act play, “Pointillism,” was produced as a University Workshop Production, and the script is available as PDF upon request for anyone who would like to read it. Her undergraduate thesis was on making the world of comedy more welcoming and accessible for marginalized groups, and was accompanied by her first 30 minute standup special called “4 yrs l8r.”
She was awarded the Helen Goldstein Undergraduate Research Award for her religious studies capstone paper, “Examining Performers’ Warm-Ups in Relation to Ritual,” which she continues to work on as a side project.
She is passionate about providing equitable access to libraries, knowledge, and the beauty of artists’ books. Her interests include social media, community outreach, and examining how the mundane can become sacred.
